Shri Lalji Mehrotra, the founder of a great source of inspiration for all of us believed that vocational education alone shall make a common youth self supportive and ultimately an asset to the society. Shri Laljibhai went one step ahead when he could get a piece of land in Jogeshwari / Andheri east area. Majority of people here belong to middle, lower middle & lower class of society lagging behind by both educationally & economically. He wanted to start an activity of vocational education for their upliftment. His dream came true in the year 1999, when L.M.T.I.., launched its training programmes, known as National Certification Programme coming under the aegis of National Council for Vocational Training, Govt. of India. In 2000, Lalji Mehrotra Technical Institute was established as an industrial training centre at Mumbai with courses recognized by Government of India under the aegis of National Council for Vocational Training. Today the institute offers courses like Architectural Assistant, Computer Operator and Programming Assistant, Draftsman (Mechanical), Electrician, Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) and Network Technician. These courses popularly known as "I.T.I. Trade Certificate Courses" are taught as per syllabuses laid down by N.C.V.T., Govt of India. Final exam or Trade Test is taken by Govt. of India and the Trade Certificate is also awarded by Govt. of India. The passed out candidates may get selected as apprentices by industries as per provisions of Apprentices Act 1961. The institute has been acknowledged by the industry which absorbs the students passing out from these trades for gainful employment.
